We would like to give a special thank you to the Friends of the Chicago River for partnering with us for this event. They are a Chicago-based non-profit dedicated to protecting the Chicago River and its connecting waterways. If you want to get involved, they offer a variety of programs including volunteer events, educational outreach, advocacy, and more. To learn more and get out there yourself, please feel free to visit their website.
Chicago River Day is an annual cleanup event that the Friends of the Chicago River have hosted since 1992. Thousands of volunteers gather together across the various project sites to remove litter and clean our waterways. Outside human use, animals from migratory birds to beavers, turtles and over 75 species of fish call our rivers their home. It is our responsibility to be kind neighbors and take care of our shared spaces.
